POSITION : Inpatient Housekeeper

REPORTS TO : Administrator

INTERFACES WITH : Manager of cleaning company, Customer service officers.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The Inpatient Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining general cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• At least a UCE certificate.

• Knowledge on housekeeping in a hospital environment.

• Comfortable to be working in inpatient areas/rooms.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Good communication skills with the ability to speak English

• Ability to perform cleaning tasks.

• Customer service skills.

• Demonstrates patience and good personal hygiene.

• Physical strength

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs routine cleaning and check-ups of patient rooms

• Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.

• Ensure that all waste is disposed properly, and dustbins are emptied.

• Ensure linens/bedsheets/blankets on patients’ beds are changed daily.

• Monitor cleaning supplies and ordering more as needed. (Put in place a checklist)

• Ensure inpatient equipment is functional by reporting any broken-down equipment to the administrator e.g., showers, toilets, bulbs, microwave, feeding tables, floors, walls, rusty beds.

• Respond to emergencies in relation to cleaning patient rooms.

• Ensure that all rooms are checked before the patients are admitted and before they are discharged to identify any items spoilt as a result of client negligence and report the same to the administrator.

• Ensure that before one leaves duty, vacant rooms are clean and all set for an admission for the night duty and ensure that clean linen is available for the same.

KEY RESULT INDICATORS

• Patient satisfaction (inpatient feedback survey results)

• Clean and tidy inpatient rooms

• Availability of room supplies e.g., Toilet paper, soap

• Availability of clean linen

• Level of maintenance of room amenities
